A little history
Instant messaging or "chat" or "chat", allows the instant exchange of text messages between computers connected via the Web. As opposed to e-mail this medium is characterized by the fact that messages are displayed in near-real time and enable an interactive dialogue.
Contrary to what one might imagine the concept of "cat" has been around longer, thanks to orders "talk" on unix and "WinPopup" windows. The open standard protocol IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is meanwhile appeared in 1988.
The first advanced messaging systems (with authentication and presence management) exist since 1996 with ICQ created by the Israeli company Mirabilis, then in 1998 with Jabber protocol, free and open.
Since then, many instant messaging systems to closed, proprietary protocols have appeared (MSN, AIM, Google Talk, Lotus Notes, Yahoo Messenger, etc ...).
In 2004, the Jabber / XMPP is standardized as an open standard by the IETF, the standards organization of Internet protocols. The XMPP protocol has become the equal of the web (HTTP and HTTPS) and email (SMTP, POP and IMAP).
Note, too, "Webchat" to talk without any software that a web browser (Smail, Chatroulette, Chatango, etc ...) and software that allows webmasters to create Webchat (JWChat, Spark, etc. ...).
evolving, integrated instant messaging features voice and video through a webcam, but also all kinds of collaborative applications (whiteboard, text editing, games, etc..) sending automatic messages and notifications (supervision, "push" of information, etc.)..
Many programs allow to establish an audio / video communication between computers. The best known are Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Skype. The mobile phone enables a audio / video communication between 3G phones equipped with a camera.
Chat function in recruiting
Using instant messaging allows:
- Better accessibility recruiters - Candidates: "Here and Now"
- Real interactivity in the exchange
- To transform a virtual relationship into contact IRL, naturally
- A better balance of power relationship between recruiter and candidate: "The recruiter is the candidate, the candidate is the recruiter"
- For a recruiter, a more efficient management of its fishpond, candidate for greater efficiency in monitoring its applications and its eve
The future of JobChat
development and democratization, instant messaging within the recruitment market, will result in:
- A
- necessary integration of a function in the job boards and chat professional social networks, enabling candidates to get in touch almost instantly with a recruiter when reading the announcement, and the recruiter for his part, will be able to enter immediately in contact with a candidate once he has consulted a resume or profile
- Integrating a chat function directly in the "hp 2.0" the candidate (eg. DoYouBuzz), enabling the recruiter to make contact with a candidate with "Webchat"
- The gradual disappearance e-mail communication in favor of a "real time"
- The possibility for a candidate to contact a recruiter without necessarily having sent his resume beforehand
- Convergence (fusion?) social networks joboards + + chats + visio + geolocation and specialization (hyper-?): A very good example is the site Huzz, the first social network dedicated to employment
- The emergence of coaching services for candidates seeking positions
- For the recruiter, the opportunity to "follow" a candidate recruited during his trial period and therefore of help the candidate to "consolidate" his position
- Ubiquitous: Candidates and recruiters expect to be contacted any time on your BlackBerry or your iPhone via instant messaging, but play the game!
The Chat: new codes?
Like language or sms twitter, communication Chat, for a candidate and a recruiter needs to speak the language of "JobChat" to be:
- Interrogative Synthetic
- Empathetic
- Active
- Without trial or a priori
In the near future, the chat will be at the center of any network and will be the unifying element and transformer of an e-relationship in contact IRL (real ). It will somehow create value added and energy through intelligent communication going to get a project out of its "dream" status "almost reality". The Dream Recruiting " was born, or almost!
